Jennifer Johanna Åkerman

Jennifer Johanna Akerman, born and raised in Stockholm Sweden, packed her bags at 19 years old and moved to Los Angeles, California. After a year in collage, she signed with a modeling agency and started modeling to pay her bills. Even though she booked campaigns for big brands like Gap and Forever 21, Jennifer’s passion was still somewhere else.

Being the social butterfly she is, Jennifer grew a network of musician friends and today she says that “if it wasn’t for the bass player in Puddle Of Mud, I would probably never had ended up pursuing music. I had never written a song nor had I ever sung on a stage before. One night out I got introduced to a British guitar player and we formed the band Bella Tech. We played gigs on the Sunset Strip weekly and I always say that this was my “music school” and where I learnt to be an artist and musician. I miss these times as far as being young and fearless but man have I grown as a writer since then!” says Jennifer and laughs.

A couple years in to her wild times on the strip, she met a Swedish songwriter and they formed the duo Bloke and Bird. “This was the time when I really learnt about songwriting” Jennifer continues. Little did she know, it was also gonna open new doors in to the tv and film world.

Even with the success of Bloke & Bird, Jennifer felt like she wanted to dive deeper as an artist and find a way to express herself like she had never done before. That's when her solo project Final Child was born: A one woman show where the real Jennifer has got to shine, as a writer, singer and producer.

The song placements sure didn’t stop and today she’s got an impressive resume with songs featured on shows like Netflix YOU, Selling Sunset and The OC, Showtime’s The L Word, FOX Prodigal Son and Masked Singer, MTV and many more. In 2020 she ended up writing 7 original songs for the movie Chick Fight and in 2021 she won a Telly Award for Best Cover Song on a tv show with her personal take on The Temptations hit song My Girl. “Writing for tv and film is a big passion of mine. I love visualizing and stepping out of the box to write about something completely different than myself”

In the fall of 2023 Jennifer released an EP under Final Child called “Religion Is Dead and her next album “Cave Woman” will be out later this year.
